Meet your neighbor: Mike Potter
Michael Potter has been cattle ranching on the same plot of land on County Road 23 since 1967. But, at the moment, you will find no cows on the property. From mid June until late October, his herd of 125 heifers and their calves are grazing elsewhere, some of them farther than three hours away. This is a relatively small herd for Potter and his brother, Henry. “We used to be close to 250 (cows), but my brother and I are getting some age on us,” Potter said, sitting on a Carlisle ATV in his backyard. He laughed. “We’re not spring chickens no more.”
