Robert Aubrey Conder

October 21, 1942-December 6, 2024

Robert Aubrey Conder, known to friends and family as “Bob,” passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Montrose. Colorado. He was 82 years old and resided in Olathe, Colorado.

Bob, the son of Leo and Lucille Conder, was born on Wolf Creek Pass, Colorado and spent his formative years in Ridgway, Colorado, growing up alongside his brother, Myron and his sister, Vicky. In 1960, Bob graduated from Ridgway School and went on to attend Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, from which he graduated in 1964. Later the same year, he received his commission as an officer in the US Navy.

While Bob served his country honorably for the next 26 years, he was joined by his wife Judy and three children, Doni, Rhonda, and Brett. He completed his distinguished career in 1991, retiring at the rank of Captain.

Upon his retirement, Bob and Judy returned to his hometown where he launched his second career as principal and then superintendent of Ridgway School. During this time, he also began raising cattle, expanding his small ranch upon moving to Norwood, Colorado. There he served as superintendent of Norwood School until he retired.

Bob is survived by his wife Judy, daughters, Doni (Darren) Jimenez and Rhonda (Steve Long) Osborne; son, Brett (Michelle) Conder, and seven grandchildren.
