ONGOING EVENTS

STORYTIME: Every Monday and Saturday from 11-11:30 a.m., Ridgway Public Library, 300 Charles St.

KIDS CRAFT TIME: Every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m., every Friday from 11-noon at Ridgway Public Library, 300 Charles St. For ages 3+ with adult helpers.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY: Every Thursday, 6 p.m. at Ridgway Community Church, 685 W. Sherman St., Ridgway. 970-626-5692. This is a confidential 12-step program. It is free and open to the public.

THURSDAY, JULY 4

RACE: Fourth of July OURAYCE, 10k registration begins at 7 a.m. at City Hall, 320 Sixth Ave., Ouray. $15 advance at ultrasignup.com, $20 day of race.

PARADE: Fourth of July parade down Main Street, Ouray, 10-11 a.m. including flyover by Colorado Air National Guard, between 10:30-10:45 a.m.

KIDS GAMES: Fourth of July kids games at Fellin Park, Ouray, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

WATERFIGHTS: Ouray Fourth of July water fights at Sixth Avenue and Main Street, 2-4 p.m.

PARADE/FIREWORKS: Ouray Main Street Fourth of July Jeep Light Parade, 9 p.m. followed by fireworks, weather permitting.

LIVE MUSIC: DeVotchKa and Banshee Tree, Ridgway Concert Series every Thursday in July. Hartwell Park, 6 p.m.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 5

FREE TALK: “The Process of Opal Mining” by Larry Throop. 5-6:30 p.m. at Ridgway State Park Visitor Center, Dutch Charlie Entrance.

ART WALK: 5-8 p.m. in Ridgway, First Friday art walks scheduled the first Friday of each month until Sept. 6, includes refreshments and entertainment. See list of participating galleries at ridgwayfuse.org/firstfridays.

FARMERS MARKET: Ridgway Farmers Market every Friday, Hartwell Park, Ridgway. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

GAME: Music Bingo. Free to play. 7 p.m. at the Wright Opera House, 472 Main St., Ouray.

BOOK SALE: Ouray Public Library book sale, 1-7 p.m. 320 Sixth Ave.

TRAIN RIDES: Free train rides at the Ridgway Railroad Museum, 200 N. Railroad St., Ridgway. Every Saturday May-October, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

LIVE MUSIC: Wowzers with TBP Joe at the Wright Opera House, 472 Main St., Ouray. 7:30 p.m. $15.

BOOK SALE: Ouray Public Library book sale, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 320 Sixth Ave.

ARCHERY: Free archery for beginners or those who want to practice at Ridgway State Park, Dutch Charlie Entrance from 9-11a.m.

ART PRESENTATION: “Horse Painting” by artist Alice Billings from 7-8:30 p.m. at Ridgway State Park Visitor Center, Dutch Charlie Entrance.

 

MONDAY, JULY 8

FREE TOUR: Guided one hour walking tour of “True Grit” film locations in Ridgway. Meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Hartwell Park gazebo.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 9

FREE LUNCH: Lunch for ages 18 and younger at the Ouray Public Library, every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must register by emailing programsouraypl@gmail.com or calling 970-325-4616.

VETERAN EVENT: Veterans’ benefit information and coffee on the second Tuesday of each month by Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans, Sherbino Theater, 604 Clinton St., Ridgway 10 a.m.-noon.

LECTURE: Evening of History at the Wright Opera House, 472 Main St., Ouray. 7:30 p.m. Featuring photographer Wesley Berg, “Wildlife of the San Juan Mountains.” Free for Ouray County Historical Society members, $5 nonmembers.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

AUTHOR TALK: “Anti-racism as a Daily Practice” with author Jennifer Harvey. 6-7 p.m. at the Ouray Community Center, 320 Sixth Ave. Ouray.
