Ouray seeks to extend flood-control tax
The city of Ouray is laying the groundwork to ask voters this fall to extend a property tax that pays for maintenance and repair of the city’s two flumes and other flood-control projects.
The tax, which is currently 2.477 mills and generates roughly $80,000 in revenue annually, was initially instituted in the 1980s. Voters renewed it in 1999, and it’s currently scheduled to sunset at the end of this year.
