The MTN Lodge, located at 373 Palomino Trail in Ridgway, has reached an agreement to serve as workforce housing for the new Four Seasons resort in Mountain Village for at least the next four years. Initially, construction workers will stay in the hotel’s 52 rooms, but later the agreement calls for resort workers to stay there after construction is completed. The lodge is the second-largest hotel in the county, and it has more than half of the hotel rooms available in Ridgway. The deal means the hotel will operate at full capacity, something the owners say they’ve struggled to reach year-round. Council votes unanimously to pursue legal action over enforcing land use code, long-term housing at hotel
The town of Ridgway is suing the owners of MTN Lodge, demanding they continue to pay lodging taxes while using their hotel as workforce housing over the next four years.
The lawsuit comes after months of disagreement with Ridgway Suites LLC, the parent company of MTN Lodge, over whether their plans to lease out the hotel for four years for construction and other workers conflict with the town’s land use code.
