Fire volunteers ask county for help
Amy Stauffer addresses the Ouray County commissioners during their regular meeting on Tuesday, describing what happened during the 2022 Simms Fire. Stauffer’s home burned to the ground after a U.S. Forest Service prescribed burn became out of control. Stauffer and other volunteer firefighters for Horsefly asked county commissioners for help with funding to help protect residents in the area of Government Springs Road and Wildcat Canyon, on the northern edge of the county.
