June 7, 1950 – September 11, 2026

Steve was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but grew up in Texas. He met Cheryl when they were young teenagers, beginning a friendship that would grow into a lifelong love. They married in their 20s and shared 52 wonderful years together. Those who knew Steve, knew him as a generous man with a big heart. Family and friends meant everything to him. He was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved.

Steve proudly served in the Air Force during Vietnam which led him to a love of aviation. He went on to build a career as a businessman owning finance and insurance companies.

In the 1980s, Steve and Cheryl discovered Ouray. They knew they had found a special place and eventually made it their full-time home. The mountains became a huge part of their life and they spent countless hours exploring them on horseback.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

He leaves behind his wife, Cheryl; his sons, William “Trey” and Kyle; his daughters-in-law, Mary and Brooke; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Allyce, Payton and Jay.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Daniel’s Catholic Church in Ouray on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11 am.
