Ouray High School 2018 graduate Beth Williams gives a thumbs up in a selfie photo she sent to her parents after her promotion to captain in the U.S. Air Force. Williams is an intelligence officer and was selected to command an intelligence flight. She is currently in her fourth year of being stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. She attended the University of Denver with an Air Force ROTC Scholarship and is currently finishing her graduate degree through Arizona State University.

Ridgway resident and documentary filmmaker Jordan Campbell poses for a photo in celebration of winning a Heartland Regional Emmy award for his film “Ukraine Under Fire” from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on July 18 in Denver.
Campbell is pictured here with his editor, Michael Herbener, at the celebration. Campbell produced the film focused on Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The documentary screened on Rocky Mountain PBS in 2025 and is now distributed widely. The film has also been honored with 25 film festival awards.

Want to submit a photo for publication? Here are some guidelines for submissions:
– This page is dedicated to photos of people doing community-related activities here in the region or celebrating accomplishments and recognition of locals..
– Photos should be clear and in focus. We are unable to publish photos that are blurry – a good rule of thumb is if it’s blurry on your screen, it will only look worse in print.
– Photos should be recent. If you took the picture more than a month ago, it’s probably too old to publish. It should also be clear what’s happening in the photo. We should be able to see people’s faces and recognize them.
– Please email your photo to erin@ouraynews.com. In your email, include a description of what’s happening in the photo and please identify the people who are pictured. Dates, the name of the event and first and last names are a must. Not sure what information you need to include? Look at the captions on this page for guidance. Please check to make sure names are spelled correctly.
– Submission of photos grants the Plaindealer the right to publish submitted photos. In submitting a photo for consideration, you are claiming to be the owner of the image. Please do not submit others’ photographs or work done by professional photographers – they retain the copyrights to their images.
