Ouray council OKs wildfire building rules
The Ouray City Council has approved a state-mandated set of building rules aimed at protecting new and remodeled homes against wildfire.
Councilors voted 4-1 on July 6 to approve the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code. Councilor Dave Doherty cast the dissenting vote but didn’t explain his opposition.
Adopted by state lawmakers in 2023, the code creates baseline wildfire mitigation standards for newly constructed buildings or remodels of a certain scale in the wildland-urban interface. The wildlan...
