January 12, 1930 – June 15, 2026
Marlin Irvin Zwicky, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 15, 2026. He was born on January 12, 1930, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and graduated from Neenah High School. He went on to attend Westminster College and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan. A successful real estate venture at age eighteen set the stage for a lifelong career as an investor. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan.
As a young man, Marlin moved to Houston for the warm weather and strong economy. There he began his career in banking. He retired from banking in his early 50s and focused on real estate investment. Although born in Wisconsin, he spent most of his adult life in Texas and Colorado, two places he was proud to call home. Throughout his life, he was known for his kind and generous spirit.
He had a true gift for gardening and could coax life and color from almost anything he planted. Flowers and plants brought him great joy, and his green thumb was admired by family and friends alike. He was also a devoted animal lover and treasured the companionship of pets throughout his life. Traveling was one of his passions, and he especially enjoyed exploring Europe and Central America.
Marlin was married three times. He and his first wife, Lora Zwicky, shared 18 years of marriage. He later shared 22 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Connie Nageotte Zwicky, until her passing. He then enjoyed 20 happy years with his wife, Michelle Walden Zwicky, until her death.
He is survived by his children, Zack Zwicky, Anne Zwicky, Shann Shinn, Chris Kanyuck, and Sally Walden; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and a life of integrity and self-sufficiency. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A service in honor of Marlin will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Rd, Houston, TX 77055.
