An economist and finance strategist has been hired as Ouray County’s chief financial officer.

Ouray County announced this week it has hired Jason Schrock for the position and he will start in July.

Ouray County Manager Antonio Mendez opted to hire the financial expert instead of a deputy county manager. In the past, the county manager has served as the county’s financial officer.
