Ouray launches committee to find local solutions
Ouray city leaders are exploring other ways to address dead, fallen trees littering neighborhoods and hillsides now that it’s unclear when a large-scale, federally funded wildfire mitigation project will come to fruition.
During a Sept. 2 council meeting, city officials discussed alternative options for soliciting public participation in clearing up tree carcasses around the city to mitigate wildfire risk while a 93-acre forest mitigation project is in limbo.
