Trio of incidents keeps rescuers busy
The Ouray Mountain Rescue Team kept busy last weekend, rescuing or assisting two hikers and a paraglider who were injured over three consecutive days.
The first incident happened around 12:30 p.m. July 11 when a 16-year-old girl fell while climbing Mount Sneffels in an area known as the Lavender Couloir, which is the standard route to the summit of the 14,153-foot peak, according to Tim Pasek, a spokesman for Ouray Mountain Rescue. Pasek said a witness saw the girl tumble 50 to 60 feet.
