Doris Elaine Swanson nee Wieseman

February 14, 1930-January 2, 2025

Doris was born February 14, 1930 on a farm near Osceola, Nebraska to Richard Christan and Viola Esther Wieseman. She attended Osceola schools and graduated from National Business Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska where she was employed by the First Trust Company until she married Jack Wehrman Swanson on May 24, 1953. They moved to Alexandra, Virginia where she was employed by the First National Bank of Alexandria and Jack finished his term in the service.

Upon Jack’s discharge from the U.S. Army, the couple moved to Denver, Colorado, where they resided for 25 years. In 1980, they moved to Ouray, Colorado, and started a publishing business called Wayfinder Press, later Rail Ventures Publishing. Doris and Jack participated in publishing until Jack’s death in 1997.

Over the years, Doris enjoyed Beta Sigma Phi, Women’s Society of Christian Service, Church Women United, and Canaan Friends of Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary as well as being a member, deacon and Stephen Minister of the First Presbyterian Church of Ouray. Doris moved to Fort Collins in 2000. Most of all, she enjoyed and loved her family.

Survivors are her four children: Karen A Florio, her husband, Mark of Montrose, Colorado; Debbie Pidcock, her husband Bob of Fort Collins, Colorado; Jim Swanson, his wife Cheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jeff Swanson, his wife Pam, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, Kim Suchy, a nephew of Western Springs, Illinois land Kathy Suchy, a niece of Lubbock, Texas.

A visitation will be held 6-8 pm Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Allnutt Funeral Home, 650 W Drake, Fort Collins. A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held 11 am Friday, January 10, at Allnutt Drake Chapel. For those unable to attend a livestream will be available at www.allnuttftcollins.com. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary at kanaan.org/en/Donations.
