Nancy Hamilton

February 21, 1949-October 28, 2024

Nancy C. Hamilton was born February 21, 1949, in Waynesboro Pennsylvania and died October 28th, 2024, in Hagerstown Maryland.

Nancy was the daughter of Bob and Janet Carpenter.

Nancy is survived by her husband Rick; her sister Sue Kline; children RJ Hamilton III of Washington, D.C., and James T. Hamilton of Sioux Falls, S.D.,; grandchildren Sophie, Nancy, Olivia and Jack; and nieces and nephews. Nancy is also survived by her Colorado daughter, Sundra Hines, and her Colorado grandchildren, Neva and Ryder Hines.

Nancy was a devoted grandmother and cherished the time she got to spend with her beautiful grandchildren.

Nancy and Rick were married April 12, 1968, and their moments spent together were very special to her. Nancy’s passion was athletics and she was a world class ultra runner with many victories and records. Her love of athletics helped her overcome paralysis in 2015 with a daunting regimen of physical therapy, training and sheer will to return to a life without a wheelchair. Nancy also was a very good mountaineer with many hours spent in the high mountains with her beloved standard poodles and friends. Her highest climb was 21,849 feet in Chile but her sweetest mountain moments were the quiet times in the Colorado high country and Blue Ridge Mountains with her poodle and her husband.

Nancy was grateful to God for her charmed life filled with love and beauty and thanked Him often each day for all her blessings. She will miss life but was confident life will go on.

Nancy’s last request was that everyone take care of Ricky and her poodle Veeta/Vida. Nancy’s ashes will be spread in the places she loved at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Foundation Inc., Hagerstown, Maryland or The Maryland Theatre, Hagerstown, Maryland.
