Kenneth Harry Sodowsky

Kenneth Harry Sodowsky

July 16, 1949-July 19, 2024

Kenny Sodowsky, 75, of Cedaredge, formerly of Ridgway, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 19, 2024.

Ken was born on July 16, 1949, to Tommy and Lois (McCool) Sodowsky in Ouray. He was raised with his cattle ranching family at Pleasant Valley Ranch in Ridgway. Following high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington. He returned to Colorado after serving 4 years. He settled in Ridgway and continued to work on the family’s cattle ranch.

On July 17, 1976, Ken married the love of his life, Susan Meek, in Grand Junction. One year later they had their first child, Marshall. They went on to have two daughters, Brooke and Morgan. In 1991, the Sodowsky family moved to Cedaredge. Ken continued managing cattle, hay, and fruit orchards on their property.

When Ken wasn’t focused on agriculture, he spent his time with what he truly believed to be his dream job. He maintained and managed a private collection of one of a kind sports cars. He retired in 2018 and retained an incredible library of knowledge and photographs of these special cars. He talked about his love of cars to the end of his days.

His many other interests included aerodynamics, space exploration, and quantum physics. He was known for his love of being outdoors and at home. You wouldn’t find him “out and about” in town but instead tinkering in his shop. His sense of humor always came about when you least expected it. He was very supportive of his kids’ pursuits in life and enjoyed time with his granddaughter, Finley. Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Sodowsky, son Marshall Sodowsky, daughter Brooke Sodowsky (John) Adams, daughter Morgan Woodward, granddaughter Finley Woodward, his sister Viki Sodowsky, step siblings: Jon (Margaret) Hutt, Janet Hutt, Roy (Sally) Hutt, Lanah Hutt, Butch Hutt, numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Hutt and Tommy Sodowsky.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug 24, at the Stotle Shed in Pioneer Town, 388 S Grand Mesa Drive, Cedaredge, CO, 81413.

The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to the HopeWest staff; and especially to Jenn, Stephanie, and the CNAs that aided him in such a caring and loving way. We will never forget the kindness and support the staff gifted Ken and our family. He passed in the comfort of his home and knew he was surrounded by his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090 N 12th St, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
