ART SHOW: Opening Art Reception for Brittany Stadler’s “Intuitive Nature.” Free to attend. 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Wright Opera House, 472 Main St. Ouray.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17

MUSIC: San Juan Chamber Music Festival concert, presented by the Ouray County Performing Arts Guild. Tickets $40 adult, $5 student. 7:30 p.m., Wright Opera House, 472 Main St. Ouray.

FUNDRAISER RACE: Mt. Sneffels Education Foundation half marathon, 10k and kids’ fun run. 7 a.m.-noon. Half-marathon starts at Fellin Park in Ouray. 10k and fun run start at Ridgway Athletic Park. Register at mtsneffelsmarathon.com.

FISHING: “Let’s Go Fishing!” program with poles and bait provided, from 9-11 a.m. at Ridgway State Park Pa-Co-Chu-Puk ponds.

NATURE PROGRAM: “Native Fish of Colorado” by Professor Derek Houston, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Ridgway State Park Visitor Center, Dutch Charlie entrance.

LIVE MUSIC: The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, 8 p.m. The Sherbino, 604 Clinton St. Ridgway. $25 advance tickets, $30 day of show. Tickets at sherbino.org.

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24

GAME: Trivia Night. Free to play. 7 p.m., Wright Opera House, 472 Main St. Ouray.

TRAIN RIDES: Free train rides at the Ridgway Railroad Museum, 200 N. Railroad St. every Saturday, May-October, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and on Fridays during Ridgway Farmers Market, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

TRUE GRIT TOURS: Free, guided one-hour walking tour of “True Grit” film locations in Ridgway. Meet at the Hartwell Park gazebo at 2:45 p.m. on Fridays.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS: Every Friday and Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and every Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. at St. Daniel’s Church, 614 Fifth St., Ouray. Every Thursday and Sunday at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the United Church of the San Juans, 295 N. Lena St. Ridgway.

AL-ANON: Every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the United Church of the San Juans, 295 N. Lena St. Ridgway, 970-318-6966.

STORYTIME: Every Monday and Saturday from 11-11:30 a.m., Ridgway Public Library, 300 Charles St.

KIDS CRAFT TIME: Every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m., every Friday from 11-noon at Ridgway Public Library, 300 Charles St. For ages 3+ with adult helpers.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY: Every Thursday, 6 p.m. at Ridgway Community Church, 685 W. Sherman St., Ridgway. 970-626-5692. This is a confidential 12-step program. It is free and open to the public.
