Peer Doose

Dec. 11, 1955-July 14, 2024

Peer Doose, born on December 11,1955, in Germany, touched the lives of many during his time in Ouray County. He passed away on July 14, 2024, marking the end of a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer.

Peer moved to Ouray as a teenager in the 1970s with his family. He attended Ouray High School where he formed lifelong friendships. He married Susan Scoggins in 1977 and they started their marriage and family in Ouray.

Peer loved exploring the backcountry by Jeep or riding his dirt bike with friends. It was among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed boating and many Lake Powell camping trips with his family. Peer had a deep appreciation for classic cars and Rock ‘n Roll music, passions that he enjoyed until his last weeks with us. Peer was a builder by trade and built a number of homes, townhomes and commercial buildings in the Ouray area. He also enjoyed woodworking and built furniture for family and friends. He is survived by his son, Eli Doose (Donna), Grandson Declan Doose, daughter Angela Stento (Caleb), and son Zac Doose.

He is also survived by his brother, Detlef Doose (Vicky), and his sister, Cariena Quilty (Don). Both of his parents preceded him in death. The family plans to hold a private memorial and will scatter his ashes in the mountains he loved. Peer will be greatly missed and always remembered with love!

Please donate to your local hospice or cancer charity in lieu of flowers. We appreciate everyone who has reached out to offer sympathy and encouragement to our family!
