George Kernan

May 5, 1929-March 20, 2024

George Kernan passed away at his home in Walnut Creek, CA, on March 20, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ilene Greene, children, Alan and Jeffrey, daughter- in laws, Kathy and Lisa, stepchildren, Todd and Dara, and 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Leslie, preceded George in death.

Born in Richmond, California, George retired from his job as electrical supervisor for the San Francisco Bay Area bridges. He then moved to Ridgway in the mountains of Southwest Colorado where he set up his art studio and perfected his art. His work was exhibited in many galleries throughout the U.S. George was truly a renaissance man, possessing myriad skills and remarkable talents. His artistic prowess shone brightly through his oil paintings and ceramic art.

George was a gentle and kind spirit, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a multitude of friends and family, all of who were touched by his warmth, generosity and unwavering support. George Kernan may have left this world, but his light will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.

Donations can be made in George’s name to Hospice of the East Bay.
