Dear Editor:
Good for you clarifying this situation with the stolen newspapers! When I initially read the article I was impressed that finally sexual abuse was being treated in a straightforward, honest and open way.
My thought was that I hoped the young (or old) men here would take this as a cautionary tale and think twice before they crossed that line with an individual, whether it was their date, their girlfriend, or their wife. It never occurred to me that anything you reported was inappropriate or damaging, and I’m impressed that the victim has the courage to speak out. We all know that the alleged rapists (and their lawyers) will do everything possible to blame the victim. That is what everyone should really be outraged about!
I was very surprised at the overreaction, and the degree of vitriol towards the paper by some people on Facebook. And then that an individual would actually break the law and steal newspapers trying to suppress public information is beyond comprehension.
And lurking behind everything is the deafening silence coming from the police chief who ultimately must be responsible for everything that happens in his house! He is the one that everyone should focus their misplaced anger towards!
