Season of Sharing: Friends of the Ouray Public Library

SEASON OF SHARING

Editor’s note: The Ouray County Plaindealer started publishing profiles of nonprofits between Thanksgiving and New Year’s in 2020 as a community service. The purpose of these profiles is to highlight the meaningful work being performed by these organizations and let the community know how they can help them even more, as the holidays approach and we reach the end of 2023. Nonprofit organizations that are based in Ouray County and serve Ouray County are eligible for these profiles. To participate, please email erin@ouraynews.com.

Year established as a nonprofit: 1976

What does your organization do for Ouray County?

The Friends of the Ouray Library supports the library’s resources and services. It receives and encourages gifts, endowments and bequests to the library. The organization also supports and cooperates with the library to help develop services and facilities for the community.

What do you list as your greatest accomplishments in 2023?

The annual luncheon and fashion show fundraiser, endowments, gifts and donations allowed the Friends of the Ouray Library to donate $7,200 to the library in 2023.

What are some goals or projects you have planned for 2024?

Hosting our annual fundraiser, the Friends of the Ouray Library annual luncheon and fashion show, on April 27, 2024.

Tell us how the community can help you do more here in Ouray County.

We need volunteers for fashion show models and table hostesses for our annual fundraiser in April. Contact folholidayluncheon@gmail.com for more information.

We also appreciate any donations or gifts to help the Ouray Public Library. All donations are tax-deductible and given directly to the library. Donations can be sent to Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 113, Ouray, CO 81427.

Thank you to Patty Blackford for providing this information.
