George Nicholas Kenney Jr.
Obituaries
September 13, 2023
George Nicholas Kenney Jr.

Nov. 14, 1944-Aug. 30, 2023

George Kenney of Ridgway, Colorado, passed away after an extended illness on the night of the super blue moon, August 30, 2023.

He is survived by his wife Susan, son Lang, sister Ann Conrad, brother David Kenney and numerous nieces and nephews.

A lover of the San Juan mountains and an avid outdoorsman, George could be found hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and cross country skiing.

Born the son of a career army officer, George traveled from his hometown of New Haven Connecticut to Europe attending school in Germany before settling in Colorado.

He worked for the town of Mountain Village and later for the town of Ridgway for mosquito control earning him the nickname of ‘the mosquito meister’ in addition to being the original G.O.A.T. (George of all trades).

His quick wit and humor brought him many friends whom we hope will join us in a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 16, 2:00pm at the Dennis Weaver Memorial Park located on Hwy 550 approximately 1 1/4 miles north of Ridgway.

In lieu of flowers or cards, please donate to the cancer society of your choice or Second Chance Humane Society.
