Tamara Lynn Knutson (63) passed away on July 26, 2023 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, after a 40 year brave battle with cancer. Tamara was born October 15, 1959 in Milwaukee, WI, to Sandra (Sandy) and Norvin (Charlie) Knutson. She resided in Ridgway, CO, for the past 12 years.
She is survived by her mother, Sandy, two sisters and two brother-in-laws, all living in Colorado.
Tamara worked in different areas of construction most of her adult life including her own home appraisal business in Wisconsin and more recently the Building Inspector for Ouray County until she retired in 2022. After that she worked at the Ridgway hardware store — she just could not sit still!
Her great passion was being outdoors, gardening, grilling, snow skiing, hiking, driving her Jeep on 4-wheel trails and being with all of her rescue dogs throughout the years. She was a friend to many, generous, kind and always anxious to enjoy life to the fullest.
In lieu of cards or flowers, please send a donation to the cancer society of your choice, Second Chance Humane Society or your favorite pet rescue. There will be a memorial service and reception for Tamara on Friday, August 11 at 2:30 pm. at United Church of the San Juans.
