Western Colorado Nordic skiers have a new trail system to enjoy thanks to a partnership between a Montrose-area group and the U.S. Forest Service.

The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests’ Ouray Ranger District signed a decision last month authorizing the Uncompahgre Nordic Trails, a 8.42-mile groomed sky trail system 36 miles southwest of Montrose.
