Nutcracker production takes to the stage
When more than 250 dancers don their costumes and take to the stage this weekend for The Nutcracker, one important member of the audience will be missing.
Mama Pyeatte, as some of the Weehawken dancers called her, died unexpectedly in June. Betsy Backo-Pyeatte was a fixture at the annual dance production – whether it was the Polar Express or the Nutcracker – and she helped with everything from costume alteration to makeup and, well, pretty much anything else that needed done.
