POLICE LOG

The following is a summary of cases the Ridgway Marshal’s Office handled from March 28 – April 10, 2022. If you have information on any of the below active cases or of any other incident that you have information on or feel needs reporting, contact the Marshal’s Office at 970-626-5196.

Officers conducted 77 directed patrols, checking property, streets, traffic, and public safety concerns.

Officers made 13 traffic stops with verbal warnings issued, two traffic citations were issued.

10 foot patrols of the downtown area.

Six security checks were completed.

Officers assisted other agencies in the county four times.

Officers did four bar checks.

Officers did one VIN inspection.

Officers took one report of lost property.

Two 911 calls were received, turned out to be okay.

Two reports of car camping were investigated. Six contacts for car camping were made.

Five Information reports were taken.

One accident was reported with minor damage.

Two phone calls were requested.

One report of intoxication was checked on – party was OK.

Two abandoned vehicles were checked on and owners moved them.

Two welfare checks – parties were OK.

Five parking problems were handled by officers.

On April 2, a burglary report was received that money was taken from Panny’s Pizza in the 100 block of Palomino Trail. A large amount of cash was taken from the business and then placed on the front deck. There was no damage.

On the night of April 2 and early on April 3, criminal mischief was reported in the 200 block of North Laura Street. A garage and a security camera on the property were damaged. The garage wall was shot with a BB or pellet gun, and a rock was thrown, knocking the camera off the outside of the garage. The case is under investigation and a suspect has been identified.

The Marshal’s Office is seeking information about a burglary and theft at RIGS Fly Shop on Sherman Street, on March 30. Someone broke into the business in the early-morning hours and took a large amount of specialized fishing equipment. A suspect was seen on security cameras but cannot be identified. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Marshal’s Office.

On April 1, officers responded to the 200 block of North Laura Street for a report of a possible protection order violation. Upon arrival and after investigation an arrest warrant was issued for David Gottorff for suspicion of violation of a protection order and harassment. He was later arrested on the warrant by the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.
