Ouray County will support Ouray Silver Mines’ request to amend its operating permit to include an area around an emergency escape exit in Governor Basin for miners working in the Revenue-Virginius Mine.

The change requires approval from the state’s Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, which is expected to make a decision in May. The mine is requesting a larger boundary around the escape entrance, increasing it from 1.16 acres to 1.39 acres.
