Motorists brave enough to try to navigate U.S. Highway 550 over Red Mountain Pass today should expect several hours’ worth of delays.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced just before 8 a.m. that crews will perform avalanche control work on Red Mountain and Molas passes this morning, requiring the highway to be closed at each location for at least two hours.
