Vernon Floyd Hudson, 86, of Ridgway, Colorado, passed away peacefully with his family by his side October 28, 2021. Vernon was born October 29, 1934, in Wheatland, Wyoming, to Floyd and Vesta Hudson. Vernon’s family moved to the Ridgway area when he was four years old. The Hudson family owned several ranches and were well-known for raising Black Angus beef cattle. Vernon married Georgine Roberts February 14, 1959. They lived in the same home on County Road 23 for over 55 years. To provide for his family, Vernon drove the school bus, milked cows to sell whole milk and cream, custom stacked hay and was the rural mail carrier. Prior to his marriage, Vernon served in the Marines as a truck mechanic and driver. Vernon is survived by his children Merilyn (Scott) Nicolas, Brad (Stephanie) Hudson and Carolyn (Gary) Lindstrom, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Georgine, his parents, and his siblings Melvin, Marvin, and Marguerite. A celebration of life is planned for June 18th,2022, at the Vernon and Georgine Hudson Ranch in Ridgway, Colorado. Vernon’s family appreciates the loving care given to him by the team at Hope West Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be given to Hope West Hospice, 725 South 4th Street, Montrose, CO 81401.
