Short-term rental tax a rush to say ‘we did something’
Dear Editor:
315 people voted for taxing tourists, out of nearly 900 registered voters. That does not sound like an overwhelming mandate when only 35% of the good people of Ouray wish to limit tourism to Ouray. It’s easy to tax someone else, but with less tourists and less income to the city, higher property taxes will have to be imposed. Less tourists will mean more financial burden on our residents.
