Ridgway may join a short list of municipalities that have recently adopted resolutions recognizing that nature has inherent legal rights.

The council directed staff to draw up a resolution after Mayor John Clark introduced the idea for consideration at the town council’s meeting on Sept. 8, referencing a resolution recently adopted by the Town of Nederland.
