Where were the horses?

Dear Editor:

Does anyone know where the horses and riders were in this year’s Ouray’s 4th of July Parade? The July 1-7, 2021, Plaindealer shows a picture of children petting one during the 2019 parade. We were at the parade Sunday from beginning to end and never saw a horse in the parade.

Considering the high percentage of fire trucks, sirens and cars present in this parade, surely a small group of riders with their horses would have been a beautiful welcome addition.
