The city issued the letter to water users this week, notifying them of six cross-connections that had not met the requirements to prevent possible contamination.

City issues notice about possible water contamination sources

A required notice to Ouray water customers about possible sources of contamination triggered panic and more questions from some residents on Wednesday.

But there’s nothing to panic about. There is no evidence of contamination. There’s no need to boil water. The notification was spurred by a requirement to notify customers that six water accounts had not installed backflow-prevention devices within a 120-day deadline.
