Ouray residents keep flume tax in place for 20 more years
Ouray city residents overwhelmingly agreed to continue paying a property tax for projects designed to protect homes and businesses from flood damage.
Final, unofficial results Tuesday night showed voters approving Ballot Issue 2A by an 80-20 margin. A total of 557 voters favored the tax, compared to 140 against it.
The passage of the measure means the 2.477 mill levy, which was scheduled to sunset at the end of this year, will remain in place for another 20 years.
