Thanks for Daffodil days

Dear Editor,
Community spirit and generosity are alive and well in Southwestern Colorado. Mar. 6-8, residents of Telluride, Mountain Village, Norwood, Ridgway, Ouray, Nucla and the region gave generously to the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days. Together you supported a great cause with record breaking donations.
The success of Daffodil Days 2013 is because of you and your neighbors, numerous volunteers who donated their time and businesses that gave generously to underwrite our local efforts.
Many thanks to Daffodil Days volunteers: Kim Aldridge, Darlene Cutler, Kate Davis, Mona de Alva, Cheryl Ehrlich, Vicki Eidsmo, Cindy Farney, Deborah Freedman, Ginny Gordon, Joyce Hodges, Jamie Intemann, Nina Kothe, Sue Kunz, Sue Lincoln, Karen Ludwig, Lela Martin, CJ Olin, Mary Olson, Sue Reynolds, MJ Schillaci, Shelley Schuler,  Miracle Sickels, Barbara Spear, Irene Stith, Pat Taylor, Deon Tempfer, Glynn Williams, Diane Workman…and all who helped by your contributions.
Thanks to businesses that generously donated time, space, enthusiasm and support: Alpine Bank Telluride, Alpine Bank Ridgway, Alpine Bank Ouray, Telluride Bottleworks, Happy Belly Deli Norwood, Mouse’s Chocolates Ouray, Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce, Ouray Chamber Resort Association, Apothecary in Nucla, Daily Planet, The Watch, Ouray County Plaindealer, Norwood Post, Sunshine Express and KOTO.
For contributing the management oversight to help us make this last ever Daffodil Days a resounding success: Chris Maughan, Jamie Nixon, Dennis Alexander, Barbara Wolfe, Gale Ingram, Susan Leverenz, Carol Garard, Charity Rhodes, James Rost, Heidi Kremeier, John Weihert and Susan Williams.
Although the American Cancer Society has decided the much loved tradition of Daffodil Days will not continue past this year, the life-saving mission of the ACS goes forward.  The American Cancer Society volunteer and staff leadership from across the country have worked together to shape a new, focused and consistent work plan to reach more patients and their families who are in need of help dealing with cancer.
Thanks to each and every one of the volunteers and contributors who celebrated Daffodil Days, to all those who looked forward to the blooming of daffodils in our communities every spring and our friends and neighbors who contributed to support cancer patients over past 15 years.
