Douglas Ward Hatter

Douglas Hatter was born May 15, 1949 to James And Ruth (Worley) Hatter in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. he spent his infancy on a ranch located between Carbondale and Redstone. The family would move to Ridgway where they would live on a ranch on Cow Creek.
James and Ruth had four sons, James Jr., Shelby, Doug and Colen. James Sr. passed away in June of 1955 and Ruth marries James' brother Harry on December 2, 1956. They had four sons as well, Steele, Dirk, Tracy and Kevin, who died in infancy.
Doug graduated from Ridgway High School and in his early years became a hard rock miner at the Campbird and Idarado mines. He then became a coal miner in the North Fork Valley. After a mining accident he turned to plumbing and followed that occupation in both Montrose and Grand Junction.
Doug married Penny Grobecker in 1978 and they had two daughters Amanda and Hillary. They later separated but remained lifelong friends.
Doug is survived by his daughters Amanda Davis (Jason) and Hillary Hodges (Benji) who both reside in Grand Junction with the loves of his life, his five grand- children, Austin, Jaden, Mycah, Regan and Isiah.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held on August 8, 2015 at his home at 19248 B50 Road, Delta, Colorado. Family and friends are invited to attend to share their memories of Doug.
