Conditions unlikely for major fire season, experts say

Thanks to extra moisture this winter, spring forecasts are for a less fearsome fire season for the state as a whole and particularly for the San Juans. Some of that moisture, in fact, kept Bureau of Land Management Fire Meteorologist Tim Mathewson from making the trip across the mountains to give his presentation on the fire season outlook to the West Region Wildfire Council in person last Thursday.
