Anne E. Kellogg
January 7, 1989 ~ February 3, 2019
Anne Kellogg, beloved and beautiful daughter, sister and friend, passed away on February 3 at age 30. Her brief presence on earth brought joy, laughter and comfort to so many. She will be remembered for her gorgeous smile, sparkling blue eyes and bright conversation as well as the many kind gestures she bestowed on friends and family members through the years.
Anne grew up in southeast Michigan (Brighton) and graduated from Pinckney High School. In 2007, she moved to Colorado and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Colorado Mesa University. She worked in retail sales in Grand Junction where she lived for about 12 years. She also volunteered for the Cooking Matters program there, a family service of Hilltop Community Resources. She loved exploring the canyons, cliffs and archeological sites of the Western Slope. On her frequent visits to Ouray County, she enjoyed hiking in the San Juan Mountains and photographing the ever-changing light on the Cimarrons.
Besides photography, Anne’s passions were sketching, singing and hanging out with friends. Her faithful boxer/pit bull Baily never left her side. The two were frequently seen walking along the Uncompahgre River Trail during the short time she lived in Ridgway. Anne also loved any entertainment that made her laugh or think, such as stand-up comedy, funny films, and science-oriented podcasts and documentaries.
Family was always very important to Anne; she treasured her summers with aunts, uncles and cousins in northern Wisconsin and delighted in playing with her little nephews in Michigan.
Anne is survived by her mother, Kate; brother, Greg Kellogg, and sister-in-law, Sommer Hayden; her three nephews (Lexington, Mackinaw and Leland Kellogg) who are Greg and Sommer’s children; and uncles Robert, Karl and George Kellogg. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Kellogg. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of the San Juans in Ridgway on Friday, February 15 at 7 p.m.
