Pay structure set for Perry as interim administrator

The Ouray City Council will discuss at its Feb. 25 public meeting the steps it will take to hire a new city administrator.
Council fired former city administrator Katie Sickles on Jan. 28 without cause and formally approved a pay structure Monday night for Police Chief Justin Perry, who was appointed interim city administrator.
Perry, who held the interim position for three months in late 2017 after former City Administrator Patrick Rondinelli resigned, will be paid at an annual rate of $107,671.45 during the interim period.
"It puts him at the minimum of the salary range of a city administrator," Mayor Pam Larson said.
In 2018, Sickles was paid at an annual rate of $98,875.
Larson told the Plaindealer that the minimum is based on the salary survey which was considered in 2016 and approved for the 2017 budget as the first of three years to stair-step pay for city positions to industry norms.
