Sickles fired for "no cause"

Katie Sickles was fired from her position as Ouray city administrator on Monday. She had been in the position in an official capacity since January 2018. The council voted unanimously to terminate Sickles for no cause, effective immediately.

Ouray City Council voted unanimously Monday night to fire City Administrator Katie Sickles for no cause, effective immediately. The ‘no cause’ stipulation means Sickles will receive severance pay of three months salary as specified in her contract.
Police Chief Justin Perry was named interim city administrator.
With no public discussion among council members and no public comment allowed, the crowd of about 30 people at the special meeting was left wondering the reasons for Sickles’ dismissal.
Council members met in executive session with City Attorney Carol Viner for an hour prior to the vote.
