The Ouray Knowledge Bowl team is headed to state after a first place finish at the regional meet in Bayfield last Saturday. The Trojans beat out several regional teams, including Ridgway, which took second place.
The team of Ry Gould, Joy Vann, Colin Sills, Cooper Rondinelli and Georgia Pieper will head to Colorado State University in Fort Collins in March for the competition.
Ouray is the only team in the Bayfield regional competition guaranteed a spot at state. The other participating schools will have to wait out the remaining regionals around the state.
Ridgway, leaving the regional competition in second place, may also be eligible for a berth at the state meet. Ryan Magee, Ridgway coach, said they’ll know mid-February if they made the cut. Sean Taplin, Anza Connaughton, Colby Taplin, Noah Newman and Emma Wallin make up the Ridgway team.
