Red Mountain Pass closure scheduled for Tuesday postponed

Plaindealer Staff Report

The Colorado Department of Transportation has provided an update to the work closures on Red Mountain Pass:

"The full closure which had been scheduled on US Highway 550 Red Mountain Pass for tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 27 has been cancelled. The electrical line work to be performed by San Miguel Power has been postponed to a later date.

For the remainder of the week, through Saturday, Dec. 1, work will continue on the Ruby Walls cliff face just south of Ouray. Motorists will still encounter periodic short closures of up to 20 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Motorists should watch for flaggers and be prepared for traffic stops. The road will return to regular two-way traffic every evening, until construction resumes the following morning."
