Thanks for the boost

Dear Editor,
As the extra-curricular seasons at Ouray Schools wind down for the 2017-2018 campaign, a series of "Thank yous!" is in order. So, modifying and somewhat condensing Jeff Foxworthy: if you sold concessions, did gate, score book and score clock chores, supervisory duties and swept and mopped the floor for home games, this is your shout-out! If you drove students to and from their events in school vehicles, large and small, and saw to it that school vehicles were maintained and ready for the trips, this is your shout-out! If you pitched in at Booster Club meetings and functions, decorated lockers and prepared the sports awards banquet, this is your shout-out! If you sponsored overnight excursions far and wide, graced the gym with your presence, crowded the courses and filled the fields, this is your shout-out! If you flipped burgers at the 5th Quarter, provided snacks on game days, adjusted family meal times and celebrations to fit practices and games, this is your shout-out. If you worked events like Knowledge Bowl competitions and the Ramble at the Reservoir, this is your shout-out! If you made monetary, time, equipment and supplies donations for fundraisers, this is your shout-out! If your tireless work in the school office and coaching time and effort above and beyond made things happen, this is your shout-out! If your talent in art, music and acting brought life to our productions, this is your shout-out! If you used your gift of promoting and summarizing these student efforts in written word, this is your shout-out! If your expertise in the nutritional and medical fields helped keep our students healthy, this is your shout-out! And finally, if you contributed in ways that have made you an unsung hero to the activities and athletics programs, this is your shout-out!

Sincerely,
Bernie Pearce
Ouray Athletics and Activities Director
