Mayor breaks tie to adopt lower speed limit ordinance

With adoption of the speed limit reduction by town council last Wednesday, town staff will soon be changing out signs to ones that read 15 miles per hour.

Drivers will soon have to take an extra glance at their speedometers while traveling through Ridgway, after a 3-2 adoption of an ordinance mandating a drop in speed limit at the monthly council meeting Wednesday, Nov. 8. The ordinance, which goes into effect next month, lowers the limit from 20 miles per hour to 15 on all town streets, excluding Railroad Street and state highways.
