Thomas Wayne Buck
September 5, 1949 ~ May 11, 2017
Thomas (Tom) Wayne Buck left his world on the morning of May 11, 2017 at the age of 67. He was born on September 5, 1949 in Guthrie, OK to Alice and Bernard Harry Buck. He was the first born of 6 boys and grew up in between Oklahoma and Illinois. At a young age, he left big city living in Illinois behind to head out West. Always an adventurer; Tom loved nature, horses, and family camping trips. A true cowboy, he was happiest riding horseback, moving cows and being outdoors. He made his money working as a successful contractor and was a very skilled wood worker.
Family was the very most important thing to Tom, and his dogs were considered family as well. Tom had a quick wit, lively sense of humor, and was an avid reader. Tom was fiercely independent, very stoic and a man of his own word and mind.
Tom is survived by his father, Harry, his 5 brothers and their families, and his two children: Serra Meyer, and Travis Buck and their families. He lived to teach his four grandchildren his love of life, and nature. Tom’s motto of “life’s short, ride hard” stayed true to the end.
There will be a potluck Celebration of Life for close friends and family held at the barn at 745 S. Amelia St. on Saturday 5/20/17 at 2 pm. For additional information, please call 970-318-6699.
