OURAY COUNTY Ridgway and Ouray share hosting duties for Ride the Rockies

Ride the Rockies made a stop in Ouray in 2010. This year Ridgway will be an official stop and Ouray will host riders who want to stay in its hotel rooms.

Ride the Rockies, a seven-day bicycle tour with 2,000 riders cycling through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, will make a stop in Ridgway on June 14. The route will begin in Alamosa on June 11 and travel through Pagosa Springs, Durango, Ridgway, Montrose and Gunnison, ending in Salida on June 18.
As a hosting community, the town can expect to see about 2,500 people coming to town for the event.  A total of 2,000 riders will pass through on the afternoon and evening of June 14 and many of them will stay overnight in Ridgway or Ouray. The riders also have support groups following them so the visitor numbers could be even higher.
