Jean Ellen Niles McDonnell, passed away and was surrounded by family due to sudden complications from brain cancer in Houston, Texas on July 11, 2016. Jean was born on February 6, 1942 in Elmira, New York.
She is survived by her son James McCutcheon of Houston, Texas; her sisters Virginia Schaffer of Sherman, Connecticut and Christine Niles, of Ridgway, Colorado and her grand-daughter Jessica McCutcheon of Houston, Texas. She was a teacher in Telluride, Colorado for many years specializing in Elementary Education and Reading. She graduated with honors from the College of Brockport State University of New York, Summa Cum Laude.
Jean was an avid reader with a quest for personal and spiritual growth. She loved living in the San Juan moun- tains, both in Telluride and Ouray County surrounded by nature. She enjoyed music, cats, dogs, discussing books and playing cards with family and friends. Jean loved to give her time an energy to many causes that would help protect humans and the environment. She made long lasting relationships with everyone she met and believed that true kindness is the most important quality to share with everyone she met.
Jean made an undeniably “positive impact” in her 74 years on the planet. She will be missed by so many.
