TOWN OF RIDGWAY Improvement project materials, timing and construction discussed

By Bill Tiedje

Preliminary designs for Ridgway's downtown and SH 62 improvement project were unveiled during a meeting hosted by the Colorado Department of Transportation and the town on Tuesday night.

Walker Christensen of DHM Design said that a chip-seal material, similar to that used in Zion National Park, would be applied over asphalt for the downtown portion of the project.
"We're paving the roads, but we want to still have it that gravel, more rural, feel. We think we can accomplish that with this," said Christensen.
Presenting a map of parking totals in the new project, Christensen explained the project would result in no net change in the number of downtown parking spaces, equating to roughly 300 spaces.
