TOWN OF RIDGWAY Stakeholders emphasize pedestrian-friendly downtown

By Bill Tiedje

In response to public comments, the Ridgway downtown infrastructure project slated for 2016 will likely continue two-way traffic along Clinton and Laura streets, while parallel parking and 14 foot wide sidewalks along Clinton will help to maintain a pedestrian-friendly feel.

Town Manager Jen Coates said this pedestrian-friendly focus was emphasized during a stakeholder meeting held on July 15, including representatives from the Colorado Department of Transportation, DHM Design, David Evans and Associates and a number of interested citizen participants.
"I thought it was really positive," said Mayor John Clark of the meeting. "There was a lot of give and take. Community stakeholders stepped up and said what was important."
Coates explained the downtown portion of the infrastructure project was based on plans completed in 2008; but, the town wanted to give the community one last chance for comment.
