TOWN OF RIDGWAY Downtown improvement tradeoffs

By Bill Tiedje

As the public engaged with engineers to discuss the Town of Ridgway's downtown infrastructure and improvement project during a meeting on Tuesday, Mayor John Clark said he felt excitement regarding the project but was "a little scared" too about how it would all work out.

Clark said he had heard many people talking of this project as a turning point for the town.

"All of us realize how big of a deal it is," said Clark. "It's just great to see all of the people here talking to the engineers."

Clark said he felt it would be short term pain for long term gain.

Circulation of traffic, parking spaces and sidewalk size were among the topics discussed during Ridgway's and Colorado Department of Transportation's public open house meeting on July 8 to discuss downtown infrastructure improvements.
